If you’re heading to college this fall and haven’t figured out how you’re going to afford it, there are plenty of scholarships out there worth pursuing.

Here are some options that are still accepting applicants.

1. Race Entry Student Scholarship

If you’re a runner, this essay-based scholarship award is for you. Race Entry is an online race registration company and they offer a $500 scholarship to college-bound and in-college students who run any kind of races 5Ks to full marathons. To apply, submit a 1,000–2,000 word essay about your relationship with running including your inspirations, challenges and takeaways.

2. AFSA 2nd Chance Scholarship

These five $1,000 scholarship awards from the American Fire Sprinkler Association are open to high school graduates. So, once you get your diploma, you’re eligible. The application should only take about 10 minutes to fill out and there’s an 8-question quiz about fire sprinklers you’ll need to take. The site provides information to study and the chance to go back and correct wrong answers. So, no need to be intimidated!

3. Arctic Physical Therapy Scholarship

The Alaska–based Arctic Physical Therapy, a private family rehabilitation practice, offers a $500 scholarship to students enrolled in college by January 2020. To be eligible, you must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher for your most recent academic year and submit an essay of less than 1,000 words detailing three ways physical therapy can make a difference in someone’s life. It’s important to note that you don’t have to have experience with physical therapy or even plan to go into the field.

4. Academic Hero 2019 Scholarship

This scholarship award is a whopping $10,000. You do need to have a 3.0 minimum GPA, create a Course Hero account and submit an essay to be eligible. The essay is a 500-word response to this quote from Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Grey: “Nowadays people know the price of everything, and the value of nothing.” It’s a bit of a thinker, so get to brainstorming because this amount of money is certainly worth the effort.

5. Odenza Marketing Group Volunteer Award

This $500 scholarship rewards students who are passionate about giving back to their communities. The marketing company has made this scholarship available to any student between the ages of 16 and 22, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and at least 50 hours volunteering completed in the past year. The application requires a 1,000-word essay on volunteering with some specific style and formatting instructions, so be sure you read the details before submitting.

6. Discover Student Loans Scholarship Award

This year, Discover Student Loans is selecting 12 students and parents — one every month — to receive a $5,000 scholarship. Entry couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is fill out a simple form. No essay or GPA minimum required. The best part? No matter what month you enter, you remain in the drawing for each subsequent month through January 2020. That means the earlier you enter, the more chances you have at receiving $5,000 to go toward your college expenses.
